Isomalt (E953)
- Food Caution
What is Isomalt (E953)?
Isomalt (E953) is a sugar alcohol made from beet sugar, used in sugar-free sweets and chewing gum. It isn't harmful to the rest of your body, but it's poorly absorbed. Larger amounts can cause gas, bloating or diarrhoea, which is why EU labels warn that eating too much may have a laxative effect.

Always check the physical label. Yasno describes evidence and regulatory status. It never says a product is free of an allergen or safe for you, and it is not medical advice.
Yasno reads the whole label from a photo and explains every ingredient like this. It is coming soon to the App Store.
