Polydextrose (E1200)

What is Polydextrose (E1200)?

Polydextrose is a type of fibre made from glucose, used to add bulk and replace some sugar and fat in low-calorie foods. Your body barely digests it, so it reaches the gut largely intact, where bacteria ferment it. Normal amounts are fine, but large amounts can cause gas, bloating or loose stools, and young children may be more sensitive.

What is Yasno’s verdict on Polydextrose?

Yasno’s verdict on Polydextrose: Caution. Some evidence of a concern, it depends on the amount, or it is genuinely worth knowing. A Caution always has a specific, sourced reason.

Always check the physical label. Yasno describes evidence and regulatory status. It never says a product is free of an allergen or safe for you, and it is not medical advice.
